Lyon city

The second-largest city in France, Lyon is the capital of the Rhône-Alpes region (over 5M people). Born of a time-honoured tradition of international exchanges since the time of Renaissance, Lyon is located along the main traffic corridor linking northern and southern Europe.
Lyon, situated between the Rhône and the Saône rivers, is a city of traditions with its Basilica on the Fourvière hillside, the Vieux-Lyon – old Renaissance district of Lyon – the Roman theatres, the Traboules (typical medieval passages of some districts of Lyon), and, of course, the Croix Rousse area, well known for the silk industry.
Situated in the heart of Europe, Lyon is only 90 mn from all Europe major urban centres. The city is served by St Exupery International Airport, motorway and high-speed train (TGV) links. Lyon is also the capital of French gastronomy with its famous Bouchons Lyonnais (typical restaurants of Lyon) and the great Chef Paul Bocuse.

Lyon has been declared UNESCO World Heritage Site. This wonderful city is looking to the future and modernity. By focusing its efforts on industry, innovation, education and research (24,000 researchers and engineers in the Rhône-Alpes region), the City of Lyon is setting the pace for technology in many fields including the pharmaceutical, chemical and computer industries.
